This page explains the cookies and similar on-device storage MarDat uses, by category. Under EU rules (the ePrivacy Directive) the test is purpose, not the word "cookie": storage that is strictly necessary for a service you asked for needs no consent, while anything non-essential (analytics, advertising) does. Everything we use is strictly necessary to sign you in, or is set by Google when you choose to sign in with Google, so we show no consent banner. We run no analytics, advertising, or cross-site tracking. See our Privacy Policy for how the app handles your personal data.
What we use, by category

Signing in with Google
If you choose Google sign-in, the prompt is handled by Google through your browser's built-in, privacy-preserving sign-in support; we never see your Google password. Google's handling is covered by Google's Privacy Policy.
Why there's no banner
A consent banner is required for non-essential storage. We don't use any: everything above is strictly necessary to sign you in and run the app, or is set by Google for a sign-in you choose to start. If we ever add something non-essential (for example, analytics), we will ask for your consent first, even if it's "cookieless".
Managing cookies & storage
You can view and clear cookies and site data in your browser settings, and block them for this site. Blocking the essential items may stop sign-in from working. You can manage Google sign-in through your Google Account and your browser's sign-in settings.
